Do something to learn
The DNA of Discipleship: Divine Truth 2
James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
Practice doing something with what you learn. Experience helps cement the truth and gives great satisfaction to the learning. This seems obvious but the more we can actively use what we are learning, the more encouraging and real it will become. We are to be doers of the Word and not just hearers. We don’t earn favor by putting truth into practice but we gain the benefit of seeing the truth function according to its intended purposes. While our experience may be incomplete practice steps, it serves to get us moving in the right direction. If we combine this practice with reflection, bringing the experience back to the Scriptures, it is truly transformative. Learning becomes a journey that is purposeful and satisfying.
